Hello, folks! I wanted to make sure you had a chance to read a couple of things I’ve posted at Our Lives in Nature. I’m thinking a lot about herp conservation in Texas and will be giving a presentation at the state meeting of Texas Master Naturalists in the fall. So I’ve written “Shifting Baseline Syndrome” and “Connection and Compassion with Lives Unlike Ours.” The former is how each generation’s perception of what is normal shifts and so the extent of conservation losses can get lost in each generation. The latter has to do with how we cannot help but be somewhat biased and selective in our protectiveness of different species. I hope you’ll visit https://livesinnature.com and read those - and comment if you have thoughts about them.
